Once burdened with the reputation of being a paradise for the "beautiful people" on an escapist trip from reality, Ibiza has largely redeemed itself and the north of the island rejoices in relatively unspoilt resorts where snorkelling may be enjoyed in clear waters. All the usual Mediterranean underwater life abounds, and some rarer sights may also be seen.
