Rhodes

Home Up

Rhodes is a fascinating island with plenty to see and enjoy, and some excellent snorkelling spots. St. Paul's Bay, next to picturesque Lindos, is almost completely enclosed, and therefore sheltered from rough seas. It has a deep channel as well as shallow rocky water. On calm days the snorkeller can also venture out into the open sea. Lindos beach itself offers good snorkelling.

Pefkas is a relatively undeveloped village with lots to see underwater - there was even a  kingfisher hunting next to us as we snorkelled.

Other snorkelling beaches that we have enjoyed, travelling northwards from Lindos, are:

Vlicha, which is a pebbled beach with clear water. In October 2004 we saw shoals of bream (several types), octopus, a solitary barracuda, blacktail and painted combers and lots more.

Agios Agathi, reached by an unmade (but reasonable even without 4WD) road from Charaki, past Feraklos castle. This undeveloped sandy cove had few facilities but offered excellent snorkelling.
